The story
The hotel occupies the West Bay Street side of the Jones and Telfair Range (also called Jones’ Upper Range), cotton-era stores and warehouses that run down to River Street behind Factors Walk. Wikipedia credits the range to architects Charles Sholl and Calvin Fay, built for George Wymberly Jones and the Telfair estate. Brothers Anil and Kirit Patel opened the Cotton Sail Hotel in 2014. The rehab won the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation’s Excellence in Rehabilitation award and Historic Savannah Foundation’s 2015 Preservation Award. The hotel joined Hilton’s Tapestry Collection in October 2018 (Hospitality Net gives 23 October 2018).
