The story

Architect Addison Mizner designed and owned the 100-room Ritz-Carlton Cloister Inn, finished at the end of 1925 and opened with a gala in February 1926 as the centerpiece of his planned city. After Mizner’s development company collapsed in 1927, Clarence Geist bought the property (1928 per The Coastal Star; Wikipedia says 1927), spent $8 million adding about 300 rooms, and reopened it in 1930 as the Boca Raton Club. MSD Partners bought the resort in 2019 and renamed it The Boca Raton. The Cloister remains one of its five hotels, with newly redesigned rooms inside the historic building.
