The story
Valley pioneer Moses Harshaw built the farmhouse in 1837. The National Register nomination notes that he is remembered locally as the ‘meanest man who ever lived.’ The Stovall family later owned it and added wraparound porches and outbuildings, including a building used as a post office and country store. A local physician, ‘Doc’ Walters, bought it in 1952, and Hamilton Schwartz turned it into a bed-and-breakfast with fine dining in 1983. Jeff and Erin bought it in December 2018 and reopened it in 2019 as a B&B and event venue.
