The story
The seven-story building at Broughton and Abercorn was erected in 1961 as the headquarters of Savannah’s First Federal Savings and Loan Association, a modernist departure from its 19th-century neighbors. It later served as a City of Savannah municipal building, which gives the hotel its name. Midnight Auteur, the hospitality company from the founders of Death & Co and The Ramble Hotel, converted it with AAmp Studio and Choate Construction, keeping the original blue-and-white tilework, terrazzo floors and lobby. The 44-room hotel opened on July 9, 2025, and the building was individually listed on the National Register on April 3, 2026.
