The story
Thomas H. McMillan came to Savannah from North Carolina in December 1878 to open a branch of the McMillan Copper Works, which made turpentine stills; his plant filled a whole block on Liberty and Price streets. The house at 304 E Huntingdon St was built in 1888 (the inn’s own history and the MPC Historic Building Map agree), and Wikimedia Commons labels the pair 302-304 E Huntingdon as the McMillan Brothers Property. McMillan chaired the Savannah Park and Tree Commission, credited by the inn with planting the azaleas in Forsyth Park; he died at 87 and is buried at Bonaventure Cemetery. The house was restored and opened as a bed and breakfast around 1995.
