The story

Irish-born iron founder William Kehoe built the house on Columbia Square, designed by DeWitt Bruyn, for $25,000. It was completed in May 1892 for him, his wife Anne and their 10 children. Its stairways, window treatments, columns, fences and gates are cast iron, not wood. After the Kehoe family sold it, the house was a family home, then a funeral parlor, and for a time was owned by football star Joe Namath. Namath sold it in 1990, and after a two-year renovation it opened as a bed and breakfast called The William Kehoe House. Long part of HLC Hotels’ Historic Inns of Savannah, it was bought by {verdigreen} hotels in fall 2025.

The ghost story

Ghost-tour accounts quoted by the inn report two Kehoe children who are said to have died in the house, and sightings of William and Anne Kehoe in Room 201 and the cupola. Guests report being awakened by small children's touches and hearing children running in the halls.
