The story
Pringle and Smith designed the 12-story building, which opened in 1925 as The Carlton, apartments leased mostly to single men; its top floors housed the ‘Bell House Boys’ social club until 1929. Original investor Colonel Charles H. Cox converted it into the Cox-Carlton Hotel, which reopened in 1930 and kept that name for about four decades. It later operated as the Hotel York (from 1981) and a Days Inn. It reopened as Hotel Indigo Atlanta Midtown after a renovation completed in October 2004.
