The story
Built in the 1890s as a private home overlooking Forsyth Park and acquired early on by Nova Scotia-born Captain Aaron Flint ‘Rudder’ Churchill, who founded the Churchill Steamship Line after settling in Savannah. The inn attributes the rope motifs around the front door and the twisted-rope balusters of the grand staircase to the captain. Churchill died in the house on June 10, 1920, and his wife Lois died in 1929; the house then became a boarding house and later an apartment building. Investors converted it into the Forsyth Park Inn in the 1980s, and the Harrison family bought it in 2016.
