The story
Builder A.C. Little, who built 16 cottages around Eagles Mere for the hotel syndicate that revived the lake resort from 1885 to 1906, bought a lot across from his home in autumn 1887 and built the Hotel Lewis. It was a modest boarding house that undercut the grand lakeside hotels, and many of the workers building those hotels stayed there. The grand hotels were gone by the end of the 20th century, but the Hotel Lewis survived as the Eagles Mere Inn.
