The story
The inn combines an 1898 Victorian house with the neighboring Civil War–era Welty House on Baltimore Street. Rooms include the North Carolina Suite in the Victorian house and the Kentucky Suite in the Welty House, plus a modern carriage-house suite. The inn runs ghost and battlefield tours from the property and calls itself award-winning, ranked among America’s best B&Bs for a honeymoon.
The ghost story
Asked whether the property is haunted, the inn says it has received numerous reports over the decades from staff and visitors of strange occurrences inside the Welty House, which it says has a reputation for hauntings given its history. The inn also runs a Welty House ghost hunt.
