The story
Built as a private residence for Walter Coney, a Savannah businessman who helped found the Savannah Board of Trade and was a director of the Savannah Bank and Trust; the city’s Historic Building Map dates the house to 1885, while the inn gives 1889. After Coney died in 1905 his daughters kept the house into the 1940s; it later held a survey office, an advertising agency and an architectural firm. Tom and Maria Burns converted it to a bed and breakfast in 1995 and commissioned the dining-room mural. The current owners bought the inn in 2022; two of the ten rooms are in the former carriage house beside the pool.
