The story

The two-and-a-half-story Queen Anne house of red pressed brick and Kyune sandstone was built in 1889 for Emanuel Kahn, a German-born grocer and one of Utah’s first Jewish merchants, to designs by Henry Monheim, among the first non-Mormon architects in Utah. It was later subdivided into apartments, though the 1977 nomination found staircases, fireplaces, plasterwork and most original walls intact. Tom and Dorothy Heers, who started The Anniversary Inn in 1991, bought the Kahn Mansion for their themed-suite concept and added the 5th South location in 1993.
