The story

The seven-story building at 29 Abercorn Street went up in 1913, per the MPC map and Wikipedia, as the John Wesley Hotel. It stands on a Reynolds Square trust lot next to the Oliver Sturges House, a survivor of the two houses built there about a century earlier. A 1931 postcard description in SCAD’s collection says the hotel was originally six stories, with a seventh added later. Its back caption ties the lot to the parsonage Oglethorpe set aside, where John Wesley lived in 1736-37. The hotel was renamed and established as Planters Inn in 1984 and is run by Charlestowne Hotels; the Olde Pink House restaurant is next door.
