The story
The Federal-style farmhouse was built in 1862 on what is now 18 acres two miles from Gettysburg National Military Park. In July 1863 the Lightner farm served as a hospital for wounded Union soldiers, whose patients included a Medal of Honor recipient, a future leader of the Grand Army of the Republic and the namesake of Stevens’ Knoll. It is now a six-room B&B with a homemade breakfast served on fine china.
