The story
Five investors conceived a grand Pocono resort in 1925 and assembled about 2,500 acres three miles north of Canadensis. John Stubbs hired architect John Muller, the Olmsted Brothers for the grounds and PGA founder Robert White for an 18-hole course, and Barclay White & Company built the stone main lodge. The lodge and course were finished in 1928, and the resort opened as Skytop Lodge on June 16 of that year. In 1930 a new dam enlarged the lake to its present size.
