The story

Moravian settlers built Bethlehem’s first house on this site in 1741, and in 1794 the Moravians built what became the Eagle Hotel, whose guests included Mark Twain and Ulysses S. Grant. Hotel Bethlehem opened on the site in 1922. It held a banquet for Amelia Earhart and hosted Winston Churchill and President Eisenhower on visits to Bethlehem Steel. It stands beside the Moravian Church Settlements, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2024, and USA Today readers voted it Best Historic Hotel/Resort for 2021–2026.

The ghost story

Historic Hotels of America says the hotel has about four ghosts, three of them identified, and that guests in room 932 reported waking to a man at the foot of the bed asking 'Why are you in my room?' before he vanished.
