The story

Built in 1786–87 by John and William Reynolds, the house takes its name from the Morris family, who lived in it for more than 120 years. The hotel describes it as one of the finest surviving examples of colonial residential architecture in Philadelphia. In 1914 the family restored the north and south sides and added the neighboring lot to the garden, and the house was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1967. Today it is a boutique hotel with complimentary continental breakfast and afternoon refreshments, a short walk from Independence Hall.
