The story
The inn says the house was built in 1898 and moved to its Cordova Street lot in 1901, near the site of a Spanish colonial gunpowder magazine that gives the inn its name. It became a rooming house in 1916, partly a store in 1925, the Mary Frances Apartments in the 1930s and the Paris Apartments in the 1960s. It opened as the Old Powder House Inn in 1989.
The ghost story
The inn reprints a travel writer's account in which the innkeeper describes at least three 'calm and peaceful' ghosts, including the building's original owner, Mrs. Capo. It also reports guests sensing a tiny ghost in one room.
