The story
The inn is named for Don Manuel Lorenzo Solana, a member of the Spanish Army’s mounted dragoons who the inn says was one of eight Spaniards allowed to remain in the city after the British took over in 1763. The National Register inventory records the present Solana House at 21 Aviles Street as built between 1803 and 1820. Aviles Street is billed as the oldest street in St. Augustine, and the inn now has 10 rooms.
