The story

The inn began as a c. 1870 farm residence. A three-story guest hall was added in 1885, when Glen-Ella began operating as a mineral-springs resort hotel. In its heyday around 1900, guests rode the Tallulah Falls Railroad to the Turnerville stop and were met by mule-drawn surrey for the three-mile trip to the hotel. The National Register nomination says it operated as a hotel until the 1920s. Bobby and Barrie Aycock restored it in 1986 and kept the original heart-pine walls, floors and ceilings where possible.
