The story
The 2.5-story Queen Anne house was built in 1888 for James Simpson Reese, a banker from Alabama, in what became Pensacola’s North Hill neighborhood. In 2020 two great-grandchildren of Celestine Toliver Harrison (born in Pensacola in 1908) bought the house and restored it as a bed and breakfast named in her honor. It opened in April 2023, and its four guest rooms are named for Celestine and Vandybilt Harrison’s children, a family the inn credits with helping desegregate Pensacola’s lunch counters and public schools.
