The story

The Gibson Inn has stood at the corner of Market Street and Avenue C in downtown Apalachicola since 1907, and it was already known as the Gibson Hotel when the town’s historic district was documented for the National Register in 1979-80. Its Parlor Bar and Franklin Cafe have been local fixtures for more than a century. Siblings Katharine Etchen Couillard and Steven Etchen, who had vacationed there as children, bought the property in 2018 to restore it. In 2024-25 they added a three-story building next door with 24 more guest rooms, a courtyard saltwater pool and an elevator.
