The story

Loren Putnam, grandson of Saratoga founder Gideon Putnam, built the Second Empire brick building in 1870; it was later called The Putnam, The Walton and The Windsor. In later years it was Alice Bode’s rooming house, and when she died in 1995 at 93 she left sixteen boarders there. Noel and Kathleen Smith bought the two buildings in 1998, restored them as Saratoga Arms, and added a 17-room wing in 2004-05.
