The story

Raymond Hood designed the 23-story black-brick and gold tower for the American Radiator Company in 1923-24. The LPC credits it with starting a new trend in New York skyscraper design through its bold cubic massing and freedom from Beaux-Arts detail. The landmark became The Bryant Park Hotel in 2001.
