The story
The inn traces its roots to its post-and-beam Cabin Room, which it dates to about 1637 and says was barged to York Harbor from the Isles of Shoals in the early 1800s. As the Hillcroft Inn, the Smith family ran it with a handful of guest rooms and a tavern called The Cellar. The Colligan family bought it in the 1940s and ran it until 1978, when the Dominguez family took over and added a major addition in 1988. The c. 1783 Yorkshire House next door joined the inn in 1983 with eleven more rooms.
