The story
Built as a large private house, the building became a rooming house during World War II and stayed one for two decades, until a retiring Navy officer bought it in the late 1960s and later converted it to nightly rental. The current owners bought it in 2000, closed it that September for renovation, and reopened in stages from May 2001.
