The story
Camp Watoga, the first CCC camp in what is now West Virginia’s largest state park, was set up by Company 1525 on June 18, 1933; CCC crews then built roads and overnight cabins, with cabin plans dated 1935. Watoga opened to the public on July 1, 1937, the same day as Babcock, Cacapon and Lost River. Eight deluxe cabins were added to the original CCC cabins in 1955.
