The story

The hotel began in the early 1920s as a bare-bones overnight stop for railroad workers passing through Clarksdale. The district inventory records a two-story brick storefront building at 212-216 Third Street. A cooperative, the Coahoma Collective, now runs it as an arts-driven hotel with no televisions in the rooms, and a portion of revenues funds community programs and events.
