The story

The hotel occupies seven adjoining buildings on Fells Point’s Broadway, the oldest dating to the 18th century. Over the years the property was a Christian boardinghouse known as The Anchorage, a YMCA and a vinegar bottling works before it reopened as the Admiral Fell Inn in 1985. Owner Meyer Jabara Hotels renovated it, keeping the historic exterior, and reopened it in 2025 as The William Fell, named for the English shipbuilder who settled Fells Point.

The ghost story

Ghost-tour lore holds that the former Admiral Fell Inn buildings are Fells Point's most haunted address: guests and staff report phantom sailors in the hallways, a recurring Lady in White and footsteps on empty floors. The best-known story is staff who rode out a hurricane in the empty hotel reporting the sounds of a party on an upper floor, with no source ever found.
