The story
The hotel opened in 1879 as the Ebbitt House, named for its first owners, Alfred and Ellen Ebbitt. It was renamed The Virginia Hotel in the early 1890s, when it drew society visitors from Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Cape Resorts acquired the property in 1986 and restored it. Today it has 24 guest rooms, the Ebbitt Room restaurant, and four nearby cottages in Jackson Street’s 1890s ‘Seven Sisters’ houses.
