The story

Alonzo H. Gentry designed the 100-room Tiger Hotel, which opened in 1928 as the first skyscraper between Kansas City and St. Louis; its rooftop ‘Tiger’ sign became a Columbia landmark. It became a retirement home in 1990 and later an event venue. Glyn Laverick bought and renovated it in 2011, it welcomed its first guests again in March 2012 for the True/False Film Festival, and it joined IHG’s voco brand in February 2022.
