The story
The three-story Colonial Revival hotel was built in 1908 on the site of an earlier hotel that had been moved in 1895, and a small two-story section of that hotel was folded into the new building. Maine architects Miller and Mayo designed it, with a wraparound porch. The inn says the main section opened in 1909, the Ellis Wing (built 1900) was attached around 1920, and the Tavern wing was expanded in the 1940s. The 1958 Haley Pond motor lodge and later wings show how it adapted to car-borne tourism in the Rangeley Lakes fishing country.
