The story
The inn’s main building at 102 Ocean Street is the Douglas Gregory House of 1881-82, documented by the Historic American Buildings Survey. The B&B spans three Victorian buildings at Ocean Street and Columbia Avenue: the main house, Prince Albert Hall behind it and the House of Royals across the street. Dane and Joan Wells were the owners in 2002; it sold again in 2021, when longtime innkeepers Doug and Anna Marie retired, and continues as a B&B under new management.
The ghost story
In a Cape May Magazine ghost walk, the writer reports that two former 'ladies of the evening' still haunt the Queen Victoria's House of Royals building across the street, mingling with guests on its top floor.
