The story
The five-story Murray, Silver City’s tallest building, opened in 1938 and became the region’s standard for Art Deco luxury. J.E. Morgan & Sons commissioned it from El Paso architect Percy McGhee, and a 1949 addition later housed the Branding Iron Saloon. Restoration began in 2005 and the hotel reopened in 2012 with 53 rooms and suites.
