The story
The Whitten Block, a five-story Romanesque building designed by Lorenzo M. Boardman, and the neighboring Miller Block both went up in 1890 as Spokane rebuilt after the fire of 1889. Louis Davenport lived and ran his first restaurant here before building the Davenport Hotel across the street. The pair became Hotel Lusso in the 1990s and, after a 2025 remodel by the Davenport Hotel Collection, reopened as The Louie with 48 king rooms.
