The story
The Army built the brick Montgomery Street Barracks on the Presidio’s Main Post between 1895 and 1897. The Presidio served Spanish, Mexican and U.S. forces before the Army closed it in the 1990s and it became part of a national park. One barracks reopened in 2018 as a 42-room hotel, the closest lodging to the Golden Gate Bridge per HHA.
