The story
Robert Alexander Marks established the Bank of Oberlin in 1880 and put up this two-story red brick Italianate block with limestone details around 1886. It was nominated for its architecture and its association with local commerce, and the nomination also gives Decatur County Courthouse as another name for the building. Restoration began in 1990, and the building opened as the LandMark Inn in 1996. Its Teller Room restaurant occupies the old bank lobby, and the inn says USA Today named it a Top Ten “Offbeat B&B” in 2010.
