The story
The Kintner family ran a series of hotels in Corydon, Indiana’s first state capital; an earlier Kintner House on the public square was Confederate Gen. John Hunt Morgan’s headquarters after he captured Corydon in 1863 and burned with its block in 1871. In 1873 the family built this larger two-and-a-half-story brick Italianate hotel at Capitol and Chestnut, with 26 guest rooms among its 35. It became apartments in the early 20th century, left the family in 1922 and later held a doctor’s office and shops, and the 1986 nomination records it being restored as a bed-and-breakfast inn.
