The story
Wales N. Johnson, owner of a local sawmill, built the house in 1889-90, and its interior is richly finished in a wide variety of woods. Wikipedia calls it a high-quality example of vernacular Queen Anne architecture, with cut-shingle gables, decorative vergeboards and bracketed porches. Later wings extend to the north and west of the original house. It was listed on the National Register in 1995 and now operates as The Jackson, formerly the Jackson House Inn.
