The story

The cream-brick building at Florida and Fifth was built in 1907 to designs by Buemming & Dick as a factory for a mattress and bedding maker, and later housed the Molitor Paper Box Company. It is a contributing building in the Florida and Third Industrial Historic District, listed on the National Register in 2008. Converted into a boutique hotel, it faced a foreclosure suit from 2021; in 2025 a court appointed a receiver and the lender acquired the hotel at a sheriff’s sale for $15.75 million, while the hotel stayed open.
