The story
Stonecliffe was built in 1904 as the main house of a 150-acre summer estate; the estate’s 1915 Tudor Revival amusement lounge with a one-lane bowling alley survives as the Woods restaurant. Island contractor Patrick Doud, who also converted the Windermere into a hotel, built Stonecliffe. After a renovation the inn reopened to guests in June 2024 with 16 renovated rooms in the Mansion.
