The story

Otto Monnig’s brick commercial block on First Street is a 2-1/2-story Second Empire building with an iron-crested slate mansard; the nomination calls it the first Hermann commercial building in a strongly stated national style. The Inn at Hermannhof uses it as its boutique hotel, with 8 guest rooms, and also rents rooms in the c. 1901-08 Kropp House and in hillside cottages.
