The story

Restaurateur Louis Davenport opened his hotel in 1914 to designs by Spokane architect Kirtland Cutter; it was billed as the most modern hostelry in the country, with air conditioning, a pipe organ and a central vacuum system. It narrowly escaped demolition before Walt and Karen Worthy completed a multimillion-dollar restoration in 2002. It is now part of the Autograph Collection and a Historic Hotels of America member.
