The story
The eight-story Art Deco Georgian, designed by M. Eugene Durfee, opened as a hotel in 1933 on Ocean Avenue facing the Pacific. During Prohibition it housed a speakeasy at basement level, since restored. Santa Monica designated it a landmark in 1995, and it reopened as a hotel after a 2020 purchase.
