The story
When it opened on May 20, 1962, the Georgetown Inn was the first new hotel in Georgetown in more than a century, built for developer Sheldon Magazine. General manager Collins Bird and partners bought it in 1968; it was abruptly shut in 1991, and Nayan Patel of Your DC Hotels bought the 96-room hotel in November 2011 and planned a multi-year renovation. Wikipedia reports a brief closure after a fire on New Year’s Day 2022.
