The story

The Quisling brothers hired Chicago architect Lawrence Monberg to design an Art Moderne apartment hotel on Lake Mendota, and the Edgewater opened in 1948. Augie Faulkner bought it in 1966, and a five-story lakefront wing was added in 1972; Elvis Presley rented two entire floors in 1977, and guests have included Bob Hope, Bob Marley and the Dalai Lama. New owners completed a major redevelopment in 2014, keeping the original tower as the Langdon Building alongside a new Wisconsin Building. The original building is contributing in the Mansion Hill Historic District, and the hotel joined Historic Hotels of America in 2015.
