The story

The Latham House on the Lyme common is a Federal-era farmhouse, probably built by Arthur Latham, who acquired the property in 1793 and was counted the wealthiest man in town. It anchors part of the Lyme Common Historic District, an 80-acre village center listed in 1988. The Dowd family renovated it into a bed and breakfast in 1989, and it has grown into a 20-room inn with a 200-seat banquet hall and the Latham House Tavern.
