The story

Henry Ford had Albert Kahn design the Georgian-style inn in 1931 to serve travelers at his Dearborn airport across the road; it opened in July 1931 with Ford the first to sign the guestbook. In 1937 five reproductions of famous Americans’ homes were added as a small Colonial village with 31 more rooms. The airport closed in 1933 but the inn carried on. After a renovation of about two years it reopened on March 19, 2025 as part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
