The story

Sea captain Ephraim Augustus Emmerton built the Second Empire mansion in 1879. It was converted to an inn in the 1950s and ran as one for more than 60 years; MACRIS records it as the Coach House Motor Inn. It is now an eleven-unit boutique hotel with self check-in, less than a mile from downtown Salem.
