The story
Jacob Simonds, one of Brandon’s earliest settlers, built the Neshobe Tavern on this site in 1786, making it the village’s social and political center. The building almost completely burned in 1881, and in 1892 Frank Briggs and Charles H. Bliss rebuilt it as the present large brick and marble inn. From 1926 the Greek Revival house of John Howe Jr., maker of the Howe Scale, served as its Annex. The inn was sold in May 2023 to Isidro ‘Sid’ Beccar-Varela.
